This print shows the City Hall in Groningen with the destroyed buildings next to it. From April 13 to 16, 1945, some fourteen thousand Canadians fought fiercely in the city. The Canadians were the first to attack the east of the city, in order to prevent the Germans from retreating to Delfzijl.
