Rotterdam is the only city in the Netherlands to have three professional football clubs. Sparta Rotterdam, Feyenoord and SBV Excelsior. These three associations each have their own following in Rotterdam and a wonderfully old-fashioned rivalry among themselves. Feyenoord posters
Feyenoord is one of the traditional top three largest clubs in the Netherlands and has an impressive history and trophy cabinet. The club has had several golden periods and played matches that are still on the minds of the supporters to this day.

Sparta Rotterdam poster
Sparta Rotterdam, founded in 1888, is the oldest professional club in the Netherlands and has won six national titles and three KNVB Cups in its existence. Sparta is known for its youth academy and has already trained many future internationals in its history. Legendary names such as Danny Blind, Theo Laseroms and Pim Doesburg have all entered the Dutch national team through Sparta. Several of today's heroes have also started in the youth academy at Sparta. Players such as Memphis Depay, Kevin Strootman and Georginio Wijnaldum have all worn the Sparta shirt.

SBV Excelsior posters
The club was founded in 1902 and has since been champion of the First Division three times, and reached the cup final in 1930, which was lost to Feyenoord. SBV Excelsior is a small club with a small stadium and a relatively small budget. Yet in the 21st century it has already played 10 ten seasons in the Eredivisie and this is of course a top achievement . This small club has even delivered four internationals in its history. Maarten Grobbe, Andwelé Slory, Arie Vermeer and Heimen Lagerwaard. But the best-known former Excelsior player is of course the all-time top scorer of the Dutch national team Robin van Persie who wore the Excelsior shirt in youth.
