Feyenoord is a Dutch professional football club from Rotterdam, founded on July 19, 1908. The football stadium: Stadion Feijenoord or called De Kuip is located in Rotterdam South. According to many the most beautiful stadium in the Netherlands. The stadium club is known for being a people's club. The club is one of the three traditional top clubs in the Netherlands. The cockpit is a stadium with football history where the professional football organization Feyenoord plays its matches at home.

We came up with the design of this print because of our love for Rotterdam. This of course also includes Feyenoord and De Kuip. A life with Feyenoord is full of fantastic moments. Of course you never want to forget these moments, with the painting of De Kuip on the wall you can continue to enjoy these moments. De Kuip is the stadium where Feyenoord became national champions in the 2016/2017 season. But as a real Rotterdammer, you already know this! Show that you support Feyenoord with a beautiful photo of De Kuip on the wall.

History of De Kuip

The driving force behind the construction of this stadium was Feyenoord chairman Leen van Zandvliet, after whom the adjacent square is also named. The stadium was designed by the architect Leendert van der Vlugt where after the construction of the stadium was started in 1935 and the opening was on March 27, 1937. The first game in the Feijenoord stadium had already been played before this official opening. Feyenoord against the Club Beerschot from Antwerp, where Leen Vente scored the first goal ever in De Kuip. De Kuip was renovated in 1994 by the Broekbakema company to meet the quality requirements again.

The Maas building

The Maas building was also introduced in 1994. The Maas building is located right next to the stadium De Kuip and is connected to the stadium by an air bridge. It consists of two floors and is multifunctional with seven large rooms for, among other things, a large reception, a brasserie, a museum and offices. Escalators connect the Maas building with the first ring of the stadium.

Architecture of De Kuip

The stadium, which is more than 75 years old, is considered by many to be the most beautiful stadium in the Netherlands due to the architecture of De Kuip, among other things. A number of those characteristic architectural styles of De Kuip are described below:
• A second stand that hangs above the first ring like a cantilevered balcony, with no supporting pillars in sight.
• A continuous, revolving stand, the shape of the stadium is curved so that a circle is created, as it were.
• The use of steel and glass makes it light and airy.
• The stairs on the outside have been made striking, each staircase consists of two intertwined stairs.
• The new roof also follows the circular, tub-shaped lines. The roof is also cantilevered with a light wall for the floating impression. With the new roof, 85 of the stadium is covered..
• Three meter deep canals around the field.

De Kuip is not only known for its distinctive architecture, but also for its good track record in terms of turf. In 1936, high demands were already made on the grass surface, the sand was then taken from Wassenaar and special grass was imported.

Activities in De Kuip

The stadium is not only a football stadium, with a capacity of 51,117 seats, the stadium also offers space for other sports activities such as boxing, gymnastics and athletics matches. In 1939 the Dutch athletics championships were held in the cockpit. In addition to sports activities, there are also concerts in the football stadium, concerts by Prince, The Rolling Stones and Michael Jackson, but also Dutch artists Marco Borsato and René Froger have performed in De Kuip.
